Job summary

Magna-Power Electronics in Flemington, NJ is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Control Engineer to join our R&D team. You will develop closed-loop controls for multi-kilowatt programmable DC power supplies using MATLAB/Simulink and translate them into reliable C firmware on TI C2000 MCUs, validating on custom PCBs you help design.

You will collaborate with power-electronics, test, and manufacturing teams from concept through production, while mentoring junior engineers and supporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Power Electronics, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field (Required).
• Five or more years of professional work experience in Power Electronics Engineering (Required).
• Circuit modeling and auto-generation of production-ready C code (Required); MATLAB, Simulink, Python (Preferred).
• Experience with Texas Instrument microcontrollers (Required); C2000 (Preferred).
• Experience with hardware design and schematic capture tools; RTOS; communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C).
• Onsite work experience required in Flemington, NJ Headquarters.

Responsibilities

• Building and refining closed-loop control models in MATLAB/Simulink and auto-generation of production-ready C code.
• Tuning digital compensators (PI/PID, state-space, predictive) for high-bandwidth control.
• Write, optimize, and document bare-metal C for TI C2000 and other 32-bit MCUs.
• Developing low-level drivers (ADC, PWM, timers, SPI, I2C, UART, RS-485, CAN, Ethernet) with deterministic execution.
• Designing 2- to 4-layer PCBs in Altium for mixed-signal and high-voltage layouts.
• Bring-up and debug prototypes with oscilloscopes and high-bandwidth probes.
• Authoring automated Python/LabVIEW scripts for regression tests and production programming.
• Generating detailed electrical specs, BOMs, and test plans; contribute to UL/IEC/CE compliance docs.
• Leading design reviews, mentoring engineers, and coordinating with suppliers/contract manufacturers.
• Supporting field-failure analysis and sustainment for volume products.
