Job summary

Johnson Controls in the United States invites a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to lead next‑gen power electronics and VSD control solutions. You will own advanced control algorithms for embedded processors using MATLAB/Simulink, and guide concepts through to tested prototypes.

Qualifications

Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
5+ years of professional experience with power electronics, variable speed drives; 8+ years if Master's degree.
Strong understanding of system modeling, simulation and controller design using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
Familiarity with circuit design and layout tools such as Altium.

Responsibilities

Conduct system modeling, system simulation and verification using MATLAB/Simulink with Auto-code generation.
Conduct prototype testing on hardware-in-loop system, variable speed drives and chiller to verify control performance.
Support field issue troubleshooting and control method improvements.
Maintain electronic circuit designs with embedded processors and FPGA/CPLD.
Perform worst case circuit analysis and incorporate reliability principles for environmental specs.
Assist internal customers to develop, test and support PCBA projects.
Independently conduct cost analyses for feasibility studies on designs or modifications.
Develop schedules reflecting project milestones and adhere to them.
Integrate new and modify existing processes to cover all phases of the electronic development process.
