Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Staff Power Electronics Engineer to lead the development of advanced control algorithms for embedded processors using MATLAB/Simulink, shaping next-generation power electronics and VSD solutions. You will design, test, and sustain PCB assemblies and components throughout the product lifecycle, impacting reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years of professional experience with power electronics, variable speed drives.
• Strong understanding of system modeling and simulation, as well as controller design, using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
• Strong understanding of power electronics and motor control.
• Experience with Auto-code generation using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
• Familiarity with circuit design and layout tools such as Altium.

Responsibilities

• Conduct system modeling, system simulation and verification using MATLAB/Simulink with Auto-code generation.
• Conduct prototype testing on hardware-in-loop system, variable speed drives and chiller to verify control performance.
• Support field issue trouble shooting and control method improvements.
• Maintain electronic circuit designs with embedded processors and FPGA/CPLD.
• Perform worst case circuit analysis and incorporation of appropriate reliability principles to ensure reliable operation over the environmental specifications.
• Assist internal customers to develop, test and support PCBA related projects.
• Independently conduct and apply cost analysis to feasibility studies on proposed designs or modifications to existing designs.
• Develop schedules which accurately reflect the project milestones and adhere to them.
• Integrate new and modify existing processes to cover all phases of the electronic development process.
