Job summary

Huntress is hiring a Staff Database Reliability Engineer to join a remote US team. You will scale and optimize PostgreSQL in production, design monitoring, and guide app teams on query and schema choices. The role reports to the Engineering Manager and offers a strong compensation package and equity.

You’ll work with a remote-first company, ensuring reliability for a high‑volume, 24/7 environment across Azure deployments and on‑prem setups. Strong coding and collaboration with SRE are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in scaling, configuration, maintenance of PostgreSQL clusters in production.
• Experience with replication, failover, and backup/recovery strategies.
• Deep PostgreSQL architecture knowledge including WAL and autovacuum.
• Extensive experience with large-scale PostgreSQL databases in 24/7 production.
• Familiarity with observability tools (DataDog, NewRelic, etc.).
• Strong tuning of critical performance parameters.

Responsibilities

• Review and tune PostgreSQL configuration to match workload.
• Forecast resource needs and propose scaling solutions.
• Design and manage monitoring dashboards and alerts for KPIs.
• Develop and refine indexing strategies to optimize writes.
• Coordinate with Azure deployments for cloud storage and networking.
• Provide guidance on query/schema/index designs to app teams.
