micro1 is seeking a Senior Database Reliability Engineer to architect, optimize, and ensure the stability of mission-critical PostgreSQL environments in a cloud-native, remote-first setting. You will design highly available architectures, optimize performance, and lead DR and backup strategies while maintaining thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years PostgreSQL production experience.
• Expert-level PostgreSQL internals, tuning, indexing, partitioning, and replication.
• Hands-on AWS RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL with backup, recovery, and high-availability design.
• Strong troubleshooting of slow queries, locks, and deadlocks.
• Experience maintaining large-scale, high-traffic databases.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage highly available PostgreSQL architectures using AWS RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Optimize performance via query plans, indexing, and partitioning strategies.
• Ensure disaster recovery with backups, replication, and failover processes.
• Diagnose and resolve slow queries, locks, and deadlocks in large systems.
• Automate maintenance tasks and promote operational excellence across environments.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support features, migrations, and scaling.
• Maintain documentation and communicate effectively.
