Job summary

Scribe is hiring a Senior Database Reliability Engineer to own the reliability, performance, and scalability of the data tier. You will shape how engineers interact with databases, not just keep the lights on, in a rapidly growing org.

Working with PostgreSQL/Aurora Serverless, OpenSearch, Redis, and a CDC pipeline, you’ll define schema design, migrations safety, and incident response while building scalable tooling and observability across the stack.

Qualifications

• Deep PostgreSQL expertise with MVCC, lock contention, and vacuum
• Experience scaling ORM queries and spotting N+1 issues
• Hands-on familiarity with CDC pipelines and AWS DMS
• Proficient in Python, Go, and IaC (Terraform)
• Experience with observability tools like CloudWatch/Honeycomb
• OpenSearch/Redis and messaging systems (SQS, RabbitMQ) at scale
• Willingness to contribute to onboarding and AI-assisted reviews

Responsibilities

• Own database reliability across Aurora, OpenSearch, Redis, and CDC pipeline
• Improve Django ORM usage at scale and build CI checks and AGENTS.md scaffolding
• Operate and evolve the CDC pipeline from Aurora through DMS to S3 Parquet to Snowflake
• Build observability across pganalyze, CloudWatch, and Honeycomb linking ORM queries to users and deploys
• Drive multi-AZ resilience in a single-region setup (Aurora, ElastiCache, OpenSearch)
• Develop self-service tooling and dashboards for product and platform teams
• Contribute to onboarding and knowledge-sharing as new engineers join the team
