Job summary

Scribe in San Francisco is hiring a Senior Database Reliability Engineer to own the reliability, performance, and scalability of Scribe’s data tier. You’ll set standards for how engineers interact with our databases, from schema design to incident response, across Aurora, OpenSearch, Redis, and our CDC pipeline.

You’ll optimize the Django ORM at scale, evolve the CDC workflow, and build observability with pganalyze, CloudWatch, and Honeycomb.

Qualifications

• Deep PostgreSQL expertise with practical tuning for latency and throughput.
• Experience running ORM-based production workloads at scale.
• Hands-on with CDC pipelines and AWS DMS or equivalent tooling.
• Proficiency in Python or Go and IaC tooling (Terraform).

Responsibilities

• Own database reliability across Aurora, OpenSearch, Redis, and the CDC pipeline.
• Improve Django ORM performance and establish scalable schema standards.
• Evolve the CDC pipeline from Aurora to S3 Parquet to Snowflake with safety checks.
• Build observability with pganalyze, CloudWatch, and Honeycomb.
• Enhance multi-AZ resilience and query footprint tooling.
• Create onboarding/docs to share ORM query insights.
