Job summary

Banc of California, Inc. seeks a seasoned credit professional to deliver financial, credit, and trend analyses for middle‑market clients. You will monitor covenants, collateral, and overall risk while maintaining independence from sales teams and adhering to credit policies.

You will review loan agreements, approve advances, and prepare reporting. The role emphasizes collaboration with Loan Servicing, portfolio management, and junior staff development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field; 5+ years in lending or portfolio management.
• Strong real estate lending knowledge; construction/bridge experience preferred.
• Solid understanding of commercial lending fundamentals: cash flow, financial analysis, loan structuring.
• Knowledge of bank credit policies, portfolio management, and risk management standards.
• Ability to interpret complex loan docs and collateral perfection requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Strong organizational and time management; ability to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication; analytical writing.
• Ability to explain financial calculations and pricing alternatives.
• Ability to present to internal teams, management, and external partners.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary credit point of contact for Borrowers.
• Review and interpret loan agreements, guarantees, and other credit documentation.
• Review, approve, and process loan advance requests with the Loan Servicing team.
• Review and approve monthly loan statements and related reporting.
• Monitor performance versus timing on project loans to assess interest reserve adequacy.
• Collect periodic financial reporting; prepare and monitor financial and operational trends.
• Analyze ongoing compliance with covenants and recommend actions.
• Prepare quarterly risk reviews and portfolio assessments.
• Evaluate Borrower requests (amendments, waivers, extensions) and prepare summary credit memoranda.
• Manage analysis, reporting, and credit recommendations for classified (non-workout) loans.
• Provide guidance and oversight through staff performance evaluations.
• Support, coach, and develop team members as part of portfolio management.
• Follow all established policies and procedures.
