Job summary

PAE Consulting Engineers Inc. seeks a Lead Plumbing Design Engineer for our Seattle office to guide complex plumbing and fire protection systems from concept through construction.

You will mentor project teams, ensure UPC, IPC, NFPA and IBC compliance, and deliver comprehensive, cost-effective designs for diverse building types. Responsibilities include directing deliverables, coordinating with disciplines, and applying sound engineering judgment to meet budget and schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in plumbing/mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Professional credential (PE/CPD) preferred.
• Minimum 4+ years in plumbing design; strong code knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Oversee deliverables including narratives, calculations, drawings and specs.
• Communicate plumbing options to diverse stakeholders.
• Determine fire protection and plumbing requirements for buildings.
• Provide design direction, mentoring and team guidance.
• Apply engineering judgment from concepts through construction.
• Manage project budget and schedule; ensure quality.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and update master specs.
• Perform plumbing design calculations and equipment selection.
