Job summary

Interface Engineering Inc. in Chicago, IL is seeking an Associate Principal / Senior Plumbing Design Engineer (MEP) to lead complex plumbing design across our projects. The role blends hands-on design, project leadership, and client collaboration in a hybrid work setting.

You will mentor staff, drive compliance with IPC/UPC/IBC, and deliver high-performance MEP solutions while enjoying ESOP benefits and a culture focused on growth, inclusion, and flexible work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience equivalent to a degree.
• 8+ years' experience in MEP plumbing design/consulting.
• Team leadership/management experience.
• Project management experience in the MEP space.
• Working knowledge of IPC/UPC and IBC standards.
• Complete understanding of building codes.
• Thorough design system knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Responsibility for plumbing system selection, engineering & design
• Preparation of Plumbing drawings, sketches, analysis, specifications, and calculations
• Demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Providing management and oversight of plumbing design support staff
• Providing construction administration & site observations related to your projects.
• Delivering exemplary service and support to team members and clients.
• Supporting overall project management to our MEP team leaders.
