Job summary

PAE CONSULTING ENGINEERS INC in Boston, MA seeks a Senior Plumbing Design Engineer to lead complex plumbing projects and mentor staff. You will drive design from concept through construction, ensure code-compliant solutions, and build lasting client relationships.

Responsibilities include leading teams, preparing deliverables, and coordinating with clients and internal groups. A PE/CPD credential and strong knowledge of UPC, IPC, NFPA, and IBC are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in discipline or equivalent experience.
• PE or CPD credential preferred.
• 1–3 years as Plumbing Design Lead or 6–10 years related work experience.
• Strong communication and staff mentorship abilities.
• Advanced knowledge of plumbing codes (UPC, IPC, NFPA, IBC).
• Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Provide project leadership to complete on time and within budget.
• Prepare narratives, calculations, drawings and specs.
• Lead client meetings and coordinate internal/external teams.
• Apply engineering judgment from concept through construction.
• Design mechanical and plumbing systems.
• Assemble project teams and assign work.
• Develop work plans and milestones.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary work and codes compliance.
• Oversee plumbing design calculations and equipment selection.
• Mentor staff and update master specifications.
• Develop client relationships and support QA/QMP.
