The Client is seeking an experienced Senior PLC Engineer to support live customer systems in the USA, focusing on automated sortation and conveyor equipment. Responsibilities

• Monitor, troubleshoot and support PLC‑controlled sortation and conveyor systems.
• Diagnose and resolve complex PLC, controls and electrical issues affecting system availability.
• Work extensively with Siemens and/or Beckhoff PLC platforms.
• Troubleshoot HMIs, drives, actuators, sensors and industrial networks.
• Investigate recurring equipment faults and identify root causes.
• Support customers remotely and attend customer sites where hands‑on troubleshooting is required.
• Minimize equipment downtime and restore automated systems to operation as quickly as possible.
• Create technical documentation, support tickets and detailed reports around controls issues.
• Escalate complex problems to specialist engineering teams where required.
• Provide high‑level technical support for business‑critical automation systems.

The Client

A leading global warehouse automation and intralogistics organization is looking for an experienced Senior PLC Engineer to join its Customer Service Controls team, with a particular focus on automated sortation systems.

This role is specifically aimed at an experienced Controls or PLC Engineer who has worked extensively with PLC-controlled sortation and conveyor equipment within warehouse automation, parcel handling, distribution or material handling environments.

The Role

As Senior PLC Engineer – Sortation Systems, you will You will be responsible for supporting live customer systems, diagnosing complex controls issues and ensuring automated sortation equipment remains stable, reliable and operational, including tasks such as:

• Monitor, troubleshoot and support PLC-controlled sortation and conveyor systems.
• Diagnose and resolve complex PLC, controls and electrical issues affecting system availability.
• Work extensively with Siemens and/or Beckhoff PLC platforms.
• Troubleshoot HMIs, drives, actuators, sensors and industrial communication networks.
• Investigate recurring equipment faults and identify root causes.
• Support customers remotely and attend customer sites where hands‑on troubleshooting is required.
• Minimize equipment downtime and restore automated systems to operation as quickly as possible.

The Requirements

The key requirement for this position is strong PLC controls engineering experience specifically involving automated sortation systems.

Ideally, you will have:

• 5+ years' experience within PLC, Controls or Automation Engineering.
• Significant hands‑on experience with automated sortation and conveyor systems.
• Strong PLC programming, diagnostics and troubleshooting capability.
• Experience with Siemens and/or Beckhoff PLCs.
• Knowledge of HMIs, VFDs/drives, actuators, sensors and industrial networks.
• Experience within warehouse automation, intralogistics, parcel handling, distribution or material handling.
• The ability to independently diagnose complex controls faults within live operational environments.
• Strong electrical and controls troubleshooting skills.
• A structured, analytical and detail‑oriented approach to problem solving.
• Willingness to travel approximately 30% across the USA.
• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline would be advantageous.
