Overview
We’re seeking a mid–senior Controls Engineer to design, program, and support PLC-based automation systems used in warehouse and material-handling environments. This is a hands-on role focused on delivering reliable, scalable automation solutions in high-throughput operational settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain PLC programs for warehouse automation and material handling systems
- Support controls architecture for conveyors, sortation, AS/RS, robotics interfaces, and WMS/WCS integrations
- Develop and debug I/O, motion control, safety circuits, and HMI logic
- Perform system testing, validation, and troubleshooting in development and production environments
- Support on-site commissioning, system startup, and post-go-live optimization
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, and operations teams to translate requirements into control logic
- Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and control narratives
Required Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of experience in controls engineering or industrial automation
- (Allen-Bradley / Rockwell preferred; Siemens a plus)
- Experience with warehouse automation or material handling systems
- Solid understanding of industrial networking, sensors, VFDs, servos, and motion control
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems in live production environments
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functional
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Experience with safety PLCs and industrial safety standards
- Familiarity with high-throughput distribution or fulfillment centers
- Exposure to system commissioning and field support
