Job summary

KNAPP North America is seeking a Control Systems Engineer - PLC to support automated warehouse operations. You will monitor and troubleshoot PLC-controlled Storage, Conveyor, and Sorter systems, triage incidents, restore service, and coordinate resolution with on-site and remote teams.

Required: bachelor’s degree in electrical/automation/mechatronics, Siemens or Beckhoff PLC expertise, 3+ years in intralogistics, and ability to work in a shift-based environment. Travel up to 30% and U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/automation/mechatronics or related field.
• Strong incident communication, documentation, and cross-team coordination skills.
• Very good Siemens & Beckhoff PLC knowledge with troubleshooting and online diagnostics.
• 3+ years of experience supporting intralogistics automation.
• Ability to diagnose faults across PLCs, HMIs, sensors/actuators, and industrial networks.
• Familiarity with ITIL-style incident/change-management processes.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support PLC-controlled automation to maintain stable warehouse operations and minimize downtime.
• Respond to and triage control-system incidents; diagnose faults across PLC logic, HMIs, sensors/actuators, drives/VFDs, and PROFINET networks.
• Restore service by resolving root causes or applying approved workarounds; initiate change-management processes as needed.
• Coordinate with on-site maintenance/controls resources and remote support teams; escalate when required.
• Communicate system status and incident updates to stakeholders; provide clear shift handovers and next steps.
• Maintain accurate tickets and technical documentation; contribute to trend analysis and continuous improvement.
