Job summary
ZT Systems is seeking an Automation Controls Technician to own PLC, HMI, and electrical controls for production equipment in Secaucus, NJ. You will diagnose and fix complex automation issues, manage backups and documentation, and work with OEMs and engineering teams on system improvements.
The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, downtime reduction, and reliable automation performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment at a leading hyperscale system integrator.
Qualifications
- Trade school certification in a technical field, plus hands-on experience in automated manufacturing.
- Strong ability to troubleshoot PLC/HMI problems across field devices, PLC logic, and networks.
- Experience reading electrical schematics, control panel drawings, and machine docs.
Responsibilities
- Own PLC, HMI, electrical controls, I/O, and automation networks for production equipment.
- Troubleshoot complex controls issues to rapidly restore equipment and reduce downtime.
- Develop preventive maintenance and spare parts strategy based on equipment criticality.
- Collaborate with OEMs, integrators, and engineering teams to implement improvements.
- Maintain backups and documentation for PLC/HMI configurations and machine recovery.
