Job summary

SOTA Cloud is seeking a Senior / Staff Platform Security Engineer to own security strategy and hands‑on implementation across our cloud and Kubernetes environments. This senior IC role reports to the CTO and emphasizes practical controls, clear communication with Compliance, and secure software delivery.

You will influence engineering, IT, quality, product, and compliance, while not initially managing a team. Remote work with daily overlap in US Central hours.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in cloud/platform security or related roles.
• Deep hands‑on Azure experience including AKS, Entra ID, networking, storage, Azure SQL.
• Strong understanding of least privilege, secure configuration, production access, and vulnerability remediation.
• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes security, container security, workload identity.
• Experience with vulnerability management and practical prioritization.
• Experience with privileged access models, PIM, access reviews, and least‑privilege controls.

Responsibilities

• Own platform security strategy and implementation across cloud infra and Kubernetes.
• Harden workloads, ingress paths, secrets handling, and container configuration.
• Manage vulnerability triage, remediation tracking, and reporting.
• Tune security tooling and signal quality for security operations.
• Develop security standards and production‑grade guardrails for CI/CD and IaC.
• Collaborate with engineers to remediate findings at the source.
• Support audits, risk assessments, and control evidence with Compliance teams.
• Work within change control processes for security relevant changes.
• Provide incident response support when needed.
