Job summary

Humana Inc in Boston, MA is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer for Platform Quality and Reliability. You will own the operational health of the NBA platform, writing production code, implementing automated tests, and guarding reliability through observability and error handling.

This role demands hands‑on contribution, leadership within a pod, and collaboration across multiple tech stacks (Java, Python, Node.js, TypeScript). Remote work allowed nationwide with occasional office visits.

Qualifications

• Location: Hybrid – Boston, MA with occasional in-office time.
• Sponsorship is not available for this role.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and testing software applications and/or infrastructure.
• 4+ years of full‑stack software engineering with 1–2 years focused on platform reliability or SRE.
• Hands‑on experience building and owning testing infrastructure—automated tests, load testing, end‑to‑end coverage.
• Strong observability skills: structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics, and alerting.
• Experience designing and enforcing error handling across distributed systems.
• Proven ability to lead a small team or pod and manage contractor resources.
• Comfort reading across a polyglot stack: Java, Python, Node.js, TypeScript.
• Strong communication; passion for improving consumer experiences.
• Comfort using AI productivity tools (Claude, Copilot, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Own uptime, performance, and resilience across NBA platform services.
• Hands‑on development – write and ship production code; not supervisory.
• Build and maintain automated testing infrastructure across unit, integration, and end‑to‑end layers.
• Own the platform's logging, alerting, and monitoring stack; ensure production visibility.
• Design and enforce error handling patterns across distributed systems.
• Evaluate platform components under load and ensure scalable operation.
• Define and enforce quality gates for handoff to production.
• Manage quality and reliability engineers within the pod.
• Coordinate with delivery pods to surface reliability concerns early.
