Humana Inc. is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to keep our NBA platform healthy, reliable, and scalable. You will work across Java, Node.js, Python, SQL, and more to diagnose issues and implement focused features that improve performance and maintainability.

This hands-on role emphasizes observability, reliability, and collaboration with delivery pods to own long-term platform health. Remote/hybrid with some travel to Humana offices may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Comfortable with Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Python and SQL
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and failure handling
• Experience with cloud infra (Azure or equivalent) and containers/Kubernetes
• Maintains clean, well-documented production-ready code
• Excellent written and verbal communication

Responsibilities

• Cross-Stack Maintenance across the full platform.
• Reliability Engineering: monitor health, investigate issues, resolve bottlenecks.
• Feature Implementation: design and ship focused platform features.
• Observability: extend logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
• Performance and scale: profile and tune under load.
• Quality: write tests, code reviews, maintain standards.
• Incident response: participate in on-call, RCA, durable fixes.
• Collaboration: work with delivery pods and Decision Intelligence.
