Job summary

Rackner is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to own and evolve a cloud-native, multi-tenant internal platform for federal health missions. You will operate a self-service platform on AWS GovCloud, driving IaC, GitOps, and secure automation for data science and engineering teams.

The role emphasizes production-grade MLOps, governance, and strong mentoring across teams, with remote US work and exposure to federal compliance standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in Platform Engineering, DevSecOps, Site Reliability, or Cloud Engineering with senior ownership of a production platform.
• Built an internal developer platform / PaaS for federal clients and brought it to production (ATO).
• Deep Kubernetes, GitOps, and Terraform expertise; experience with AWS services in GovCloud.

Responsibilities

• Own IaC + GitOps foundation; evolve Terraform and ArgoCD for a declarative, self-healing platform.
• Build and operate a multi-tenant, self-service platform with onboarding and tooling catalogs.
• Run Kubernetes on AWS GovCloud with autoscaling, ingress, and TLS across environments.
• Architect and deploy AIOps/MLOps for data science teams; schedule GPU workloads and notebooks (SageMaker/Bedrock).
• Enable data lakehouse with Trino/Iceberg on Glue+S3; ensure reliable data access and observability.
• Deliver observability and SLOs with Prometheus and Grafana; implement alerting and dashboards.
• Automate security and compliance — secrets management, policy-as-code, vulnerability remediation, ATO artifacts.
• Drive documentation and knowledge transfer; produce runbooks and platform docs.
• Partner with government stakeholders and tenants to translate mission needs into platform capabilities.
