Job summary

GEICO in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Senior Engineer to partner with Sr Staff Engineers to innovate and build new systems, improve existing ones, and solve critical problems. You will lead projects on a technical roadmap to increase velocity and unlock capabilities.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in Open-Source Observability and the Data platform domain. You will collaborate with product managers, customers, and other teams, ensuring quality, usability, and performance while coaching

Qualifications

• Experience building distributed systems at scale and processing telemetry data.
• Deep knowledge of open-source observability and data platforms.
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes and cloud services (AWS/Azure).
• Strong communication and ability to lead projects and interact with clients.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and infrastructure as code practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-scale system projects and provide technical leadership.
• Collaborate with product managers, customers, and other engineering teams to solve problems.
• Ensure quality, usability, and performance of solutions.
• Coach junior engineers and promote best practices across teams.
• Share best practices and improve processes within and across teams.
• Determine resource needs, evaluate operations, and support continuous learning.
• Be on-call and provide operational support as needed.
