Job summary

Collectors Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to guide architecture across the Becketts’ tech landscape, spanning NestJS/TypeScript microservices and legacy PHP monoliths.

You’ll own domain end-to-end, drive modernization, and elevate security, testing, and observability while mentoring engineers. You will influence the tech org, collaborate across grading, marketplace, CRM, and payments, and push AI-assisted tooling in production.

Qualifications

• Expert-level backend engineering in TypeScript/Node.js and/or Java.
• Full-stack experience with React/Next.js frontends and API layers.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and architect domain end-to-end across services and data stores.
• Lead modernization efforts, including strangler patterns and service replacements.
• Prioritize security, testing, observability, and incident response across the stack.
• Collaborate with grading, marketplace, CRM, payments, identity, and data/ETL teams.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and promote knowledge sharing.
• Drive AI-assisted engineering adoption with standards and guardrails.
