Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the MBFF platform and its back-office integration. You will shape architecture, drive reliability, and enforce platform standards across Java microservices and cloud-native systems, with emphasis on Azure, observability, and CI/CD.

You will mentor engineers, define scalable API patterns, and collaborate with product and security teams to align with enterprise standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
8+ years of software engineering experience, incl. Java and Spring Boot microservices.
Experience leading architecture and technical direction for distributed systems.
Experience designing and operating scalable cloud-native microservices.
Strong hands-on with Azure, Kubernetes, and modern DevOps practices.
Proven ability to define CI/CD pipelines, observability, and governance.
Strong SQL knowledge (Oracle/PostgreSQL).
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Lead architecture, design, and evolution of MBFF platform and core microservices.
Define technical strategy for APIs, orchestration, and platform capabilities.
Establish reliability, observability, security, and operational readiness standards.
Drive CI/CD maturity, release automation, and production support across teams.
Champion AI-enabled engineering and operational tooling and practices.
Guide design reviews, production readiness, and incident reviews.
Mentor senior engineers and improve engineering quality across teams.
Identify opportunities to reduce complexity and accelerate onboarding across MBFF services.
