Job summary

General Motors Company is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to provide technical leadership for the MBFF platform and back-office integration architecture. You will shape the technical direction of microservices, cloud-native systems, and DevOps practices while guiding teams through complex decisions to improve speed, quality, and resilience.

You’ll mentor senior engineers and partner with product, security, and SRE teams to standardize platforms, APIs, and governance across GM mobile ownership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/engineering.
• 8+ years of software engineering in Java/Spring Boot ecosystems.
• Experience leading architecture and technical direction for distributed systems.
• Experience building scalable cloud-native microservices and APIs.
• Strong Azure, Kubernetes, and modern DevOps practices.
• Proven CI/CD design, release processes, and observability standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and evolution of GM MBFF platform and core microservices.
• Define strategy for scalable APIs and event-driven patterns.
• Set standards for reliability, observability, security, and operations.
• Drive DevOps maturity, CI/CD, and production support across teams.
• Champion AI-enabled engineering and tooling for productivity and quality.
• Mentor engineers and raise technical quality across the org.
• Partner with product, security, and SRE teams to align platform goals.
