Job summary

Walgreens is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer I to design and build scalable platform services, automate pipelines, and codify infrastructure in cloud environments. You will collaborate with application, observability, operations, and security teams to improve developer experience and platform reliability.

The role emphasizes Azure-based CI/CD, Terraform/Bicep IaC, and AKS, with a focus on automation, reusable services, and continuous improvement across the platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4+ years in Engineering or related field.
• Experience writing code for moderately complex applications.
• Experience with programming languages for online apps, microservices or mobile apps.
• Experience designing/building moderately complex applications/automation.
• Experience writing automation or deployment scripts.
• Experience creating coding solutions to fix moderately complex problems.
• At least 1 year of leadership or cross-functional team leadership.
• Willing to travel up to 10% for business purposes.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop platform services, APIs, and automation frameworks.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
• Implement Terraform and Bicep to automate cloud provisioning.
• Develop reusable tools to improve developer productivity.
• Collaborate with multiple teams to integrate best practices.
• Support containerized workloads and Kubernetes (AKS preferred).
• Contribute to observability through logging, monitoring, and alerting.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve performance.
