Job summary

Clera is seeking a Staff/Senior Staff backend engineer to build the core platform for an AI-driven manufacturing and supply chain company. You will architect scalable backend services, data systems, and AI infrastructure coordinating manufacturing workflows and supplier networks.

You will implement LLM-based agents, AI/ML infrastructure, and RAG patterns for quotes and supplier recommendations, while designing robust PostgreSQL schemas and event-driven pipelines.

Qualifications

• Hands-on builder with 4–12 years of professional experience.
• Proficient in TypeScript and Next.js with full-stack experience in Python and Go.
• Strong data engineering experience and large-scale processing.
• Experience developing AI products or infrastructure, including LLMs and MLOps.
• Familiar with agent orchestration, RAG, and AI infra concepts.
• Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS or equivalent) focused on security and data privacy.
• Experience building internal tools and end-to-end ownership in startup or small-company settings.
• Knowledge of manufacturing supply chain, procurement, or logistics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and scale backend services using Next.js API routes, background jobs, and serverless funcs.
• Build production-grade LLM-based agents, AI/ML infra, and RAG patterns for quotes and supplier recs.
• Design PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and complex queries for materials, quotes, orders, suppliers.
• Architect event-driven pipelines for order state, notifications, and system sync.
• Implement caching and rate-limiting for reliable external API integrations.
• Establish monitoring, alerting, observability, and own backend incident response.
