Clera is seeking a Staff/Senior Staff backend engineer to build the core platform for an AI-driven manufacturing and supply chain company. You will architect scalable backend services, data systems, and AI infrastructure coordinating manufacturing workflows and supplier networks.

You will implement LLM-based agents, AI/ML infrastructure, and RAG patterns for quotes and supplier recommendations, while designing robust PostgreSQL schemas and event-driven pipelines.

Competenze

• Hands-on builder with 4–12 years of professional experience.
• Proficient in TypeScript and Next.js with full-stack experience in Python and Go.
• Strong data engineering experience and large-scale processing.
• Experience developing AI products or infrastructure, including LLMs and MLOps.
• Familiar with agent orchestration, RAG, and AI infra concepts.
• Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS or equivalent) focused on security and data privacy.
• Experience building internal tools and end-to-end ownership in startup or small-company settings.
• Knowledge of manufacturing supply chain, procurement, or logistics is a plus.

About the Role

Join the platform team at an early-stage AI manufacturing and supply chain company. You will build the backend services, data systems, and AI infrastructure that coordinate manufacturing workflows and help move materials reliably through complex supply chains.

What You'll Do

• Design and scale backend services using Next.js API routes, background jobs, and serverless functions for high-throughput order processing.
• Build and productionize LLM-based agents, AI/ML infrastructure, and RAG patterns for quote analysis and supplier recommendations.
• Design PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and complex queries for materials, quotes, orders, and supplier relationships.
• Architect event-driven pipelines for order state management, notifications, and synchronization across systems.
• Implement caching and rate-limiting strategies for reliable external API integrations.
• Establish monitoring, alerting, and observability practices, and own backend incident response.

What We're Looking For

• Staff or Senior Staff-level experience, with a track record as a hands-on 0-to-1 builder; 4 to 12 years of professional experience.
• Professional TypeScript experience and recent hands-on experience with Next.js, plus full-stack experience across Python and Go.
• Strong data engineering experience building data pipelines and large-scale processing systems.
• Direct experience developing AI products or infrastructure, including production LLM products, LLMOps, model evaluations, and familiarity with the AI/ML lifecycle.
• Experience with agent orchestration, RAG, and related AI infrastructure is valuable.
• AWS or other cloud infrastructure experience, including security and data privacy.
• Experience building internal tools and owning systems end to end, ideally in a startup or small-company environment.
• Manufacturing supply chain, procurement, or logistics domain knowledge is valuable.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $160,000 to $250,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

Remote in the United States. Primary location: San Francisco, California.
