Job summary

PlayStation is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and operate scalable data platforms with a strong emphasis on Infrastructure as Code and cloud technologies. You will drive automation, ensure high availability, and partner with platform teams to support billions of transactions globally.

The role focuses on reliability and automation for NoSQL, streaming, and caching services across AWS and GCP, with opportunities to apply AI/ML for optimization and remediation.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software development and DBRE experience, with at least 3+ years focused on Go and Infrastructure As Code with an emphasis on automation.
• Deep proficiency in Go with production-scale services and modular architectures.
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible, and cloud platforms AWS/GCP.
• Expertise operating large-scale NoSQL, caching and streaming platforms (Kafka, Redis, AWS MSK).
• Strong Linux, networking, and storage fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement IaC and automate provisioning, monitoring, and lifecycle management of data platforms including NoSQL, Streaming, and Caching systems.
• Drive end-to-end automation for self-service deployment across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and resiliency of data platform solutions.
• Define SLIs/SLOs and error budgets to guide reliability engineering practices.
• Develop self-healing systems with automated failover and auto-scaling for databases and streaming platforms.
• Build observability for Cassandra, Aerospike, Redis, and Kafka/MSK to enable proactive issue detection.
• Partner cross-functionally to deliver reliable, scalable data services.
• Lead incident response and apply permanent automated fixes through root cause analysis.
• Explore AI-driven approaches for anomaly detection, predictive scaling, and remediation to boost efficiency.
• Create and share operational playbooks to support global teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in automation and distributed systems.
