Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment in San Mateo is seeking a Staff Software Engineer – Data to lead real-time analytics platform initiatives. You will architect, build, and operate distributed data systems powering PlayStation analytics, collaborating with product and engineering teams to drive scalable, reliable data capabilities.

You will mentor engineers, evolve streaming architectures, and apply AI/ML tooling to automate workflows and improve developer productivity.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent.
8+ years designing and building large-scale distributed systems with real-time analytics.
Strong Python skills; Scala helpful for legacy components.
Hands-on experience with Flink, Spark Structured Streaming, or equivalents.
Experience with ClickHouse or Druid and OLAP analytics at scale.
Proven event-driven data pipelines using AWS MSK or Kafka.
Experience applying AI/ML techniques to automate engineering workflows.
Strong systems design and technical leadership across teams.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and operate large-scale distributed data systems powering real-time analytics.
Lead architecture and evolution of RTAP, enhancing scalability, reliability and performance.
Own platform capabilities end-to-end from design to production operations.
Build and optimize distributed data services with Flink, Spark, ClickHouse and Druid.
Partner with Data Engineering to integrate batch and streaming workloads.
Mentor engineers, raise technical standards, and influence decisions.
Define long-term technical strategy with Product, Infrastructure and Security.
Investigate production challenges and lead incident response and RCA.
Evaluate new technologies to improve scalability and cost efficiency.
