Job summary

Capital Technology Group is seeking a Sr Platform Engineer Lead to drive the design, automation, and reliability of cloud platforms behind mission-critical federal systems. This senior role requires deep DevOps and infra expertise to set technical direction and grow the team.

You will shape architecture, ensure secure, scalable platforms, and mentor engineers while advancing platform standards and best practices in a remote-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 9+ years of professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, SRE, or infra engineering with technical leadership.
• Experience with governance processes, standards, change management, or shared enterprise services.
• Strong hands-on with Docker, Kubernetes, Git, Linux and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
• Proven experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform or similar tools.
• Experience in cloud environments (AWS preferred; GCP/Azure considered).
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, CloudWatch).
• Scripting in Bash, Python, or Go.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, build, and evolution of secure, scalable cloud platforms for federal mission needs.
• Own Infra-as-Code standards and implementations using Terraform or similar tools.
• Design, automate, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for fast, safe delivery.
• Define and track reliability practices including SLI/SLO, monitoring, alerting and observability.
• Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and postmortems; drive lasting fixes.
• Build automation to reduce manual work and speed delivery.
• Create runbooks and procedures for troubleshooting, maintenance, and disaster recovery.
• Evaluate new technologies via prototypes and PoCs before adoption.
• Partner with development, architecture, security, and product teams for production-ready solutions.
• Lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and platform decisions.
• Mentor engineers and establish platform standards and best practices.
