Job summary

Smithfield Foods, a global leader in sustainable food production, seeks an Engineering and Maintenance leader for our Arnold, MO plant. You will drive capital projects, optimize maintenance systems, and lead a high-performing team to keep production running smoothly and safely.

You’ll develop and implement cutting-edge maintenance programs, manage resources, and deliver measurable improvements in plant efficiency and reliability. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field with 8+ years’ experience.
• 2+ years in team management or project leadership.
• High level leadership, planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, adaptability.
• Advanced technical skills in mechanical/electrical fields (PLCs, instrumentation).
• Knowledge of maintenance systems and TPM.
• Proficient in Excel and Word; strong communication skills.
• Willingness to work long hours and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Engineering Project Development: own capital projects from concept to completion with on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Maintenance Systems: lead Preventive/Predictive Maintenance and TPM initiatives.
• Maintenance Staff and Safety: manage and develop the maintenance team and uphold safety.
• Solutions: provide both short-term fixes and long-term process improvements.
• KPIs: build and track metrics for maintenance efficiency and reliability.
• Leadership and Flexibility: cover for key personnel and ensure uninterrupted operations.
• People Management: coach and develop team members.
