Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking an experienced Engineering leader to oversee maintenance and engineering in a fast-paced plant. You will drive reliability, lead the maintenance team, and advance TPM and predictive maintenance to maximize production efficiency.

You will manage capital projects, develop KPI-driven strategies, and ensure safety, quality, and environmental standards are met while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field; 8+ years of relevant experience.
• 2+ years of team management or project leadership.
• Strong leadership, planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability.
• Advanced technical skills in mechanical/electrical fields (PLCs, instrumentation) and ability to lead resource planning in a large manufacturing environment.
• Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, preventive/predictive maintenance, TPM.
• Ability to use exposure monitoring equipment, interpret results.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Clear written and verbal communication; strong presentation skills.
• Willing to work long hours and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Own capital projects from concept to completion; manage scope, schedule, budget with safety compliance.
• Develop and implement maintenance systems including preventive/predictive maintenance and TPM.
• Lead maintenance staff; assign tasks, enforce policies, ensure safety and compliance.
• Provide short- and long-term solutions to operational challenges and minimize downtime.
• Develop and track KPIs for maintenance performance; monitor equipment reliability and OEE.
• Provide leadership during key personnel absences; ensure continuity of operations.
• Foster employee development and coaching to maintain a positive work environment.
