Job summary

SAFEbuilt is seeking a talented, experienced Senior Plans Examiner to join our team in a remote Texas role. You will perform non-structural plan reviews for commercial, industrial, and residential projects and work with municipal clients.

This position offers opportunities to use your ICC certifications, stay current with the International Building Codes, and collaborate with a national network of professionals.

Qualifications

• 4-7 years of Commercial Plans Examiner experience, either with a municipality or 3rd party firm.
• ICC Plans Examiner Certifications required
• ICC Trades Plans Examiner certifications preferred
• ICC Building Official or Master Code Professional certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide complete non-structural plan reviews of commercial, industrial, and residential buildings for compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Reviews all plans and specifications for commercial, industrial, and residential projects to ensure compliance with adopted codes by city, state, and federal laws and regulations.
• Part of the plan review process includes basic zoning, such as building setbacks, height restrictions, etc., as outlined in the city ordinances.
• Attend preconstruction conferences with contractors and/or developers and associated staff members.
• Provides technical direction and assistance to inspection personnel relating to field problems.
• Assess and resolve complaints received from clients, applicants, the public, designers, and contractors.
• Regularly interacts directly with municipal clients and their staff.
• Attends meetings, educational seminars, and functions relating to building codes.
