Job summary

SAFEbuilt seeks a Building Plans Examiner to review non-structural plans for commercial, industrial, and residential projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal codes. You will work with municipal staff to resolve issues and provide guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

The role requires ICC Certification and experience in plan reviews, with opportunities for professional development and career progression.

Qualifications

ICC Building Plans Examiner certification required.
Experience in reviewing construction plans required.
ICC Plans Examiner Certifications in multiple trades preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide complete non-structural plan reviews of commercial, industrial and residential buildings for code compliance.
Review all plans and specifications for commercial, industrial, and residential projects for code compliance with city, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Initiate preconstruction conferences with contractors and/or developers and staff.
Provide technical direction and assistance to inspection personnel regarding field problems.
Assess and resolve complaints from clients, applicants, public, designers, and contractors.
Interact directly with municipal clients and their staff on a regular basis.
May perform inspections and interpret codes in the field as needed.
Attend meetings, educational seminars, and functions related to building codes.
