Job summary

SAFEbuilt seeks a Senior Plans Examiner to review commercial, industrial, and residential plans for compliance with applicable codes. The role involves guidance to inspection staff, coordination with municipal clients, and participation in preconstruction activities.

A strong background in building codes and zoning is essential. The candidate should have 4–7 years of Commercial Plans Examiner experience and ICC certifications.

Qualifications

• 4-7 years of Commercial Plans Examiner experience
• ICC Plans Examiner Certification required
• ICC Trades Plans Examiner certifications preferred
• ICC Building Official or Master Code Professional certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide complete plan reviews of commercial, industrial, and residential buildings for code compliance.
• Review all plans and specifications to ensure compliance with adopted codes by city, state, and federal laws.
• Attend preconstruction conferences with contractors and developers and staff.
• Provide technical direction and assistance to inspection personnel for field problems.
• Assess and resolve complaints from clients, applicants, the public, designers, and contractors.
• Interact with municipal clients and attend meetings and related code education events.
