Job summary

City of San Antonio is seeking an experienced urban planning administrator to lead the division’s program development and strategic planning efforts. The role focuses on coordinating comprehensive planning efforts, accessibility and transportation planning, and data management in service of the city’s general plan.

The position requires extensive knowledge in urban planning, strong leadership, and the ability to manage diverse programs and staff while presenting to city officials and the public.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of urban planning experience with two years in a supervisory/management role.
• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred in related fields.

Responsibilities

• Oversees planning, preparation, and submission of division reports including the budget.
• Manages department budget and staffing needs; monitors expenditures and adjusts as needed.
• Prepares and presents reports for Planning Commission, Zoning Commission, City Council, and other officials.
• Supervises and develops staff; conducts performance evaluations and coaching as needed.
• Coordinates division activities with other municipal departments; ensures ADA compliance.
