Job summary

The City of San Antonio is seeking a Planning Administrator to lead Citywide Planning. This full-time role oversees planning studies, division budgets, and staff supervision to advance the city's comprehensive development.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree and five years of urban planning experience, including two years in supervision. Expertise in GIS (ArcGIS), Adobe Creative Suite, and strong writing and public-speaking skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Five (5) years of increasingly responsible urban planning experience to include two (2) years supervisory or management experience.

Responsibilities

• General administration of the planning programs for the division.
• Oversees the planning, preparation, and submission of division reports including the budget.
• Manages development and administration of the department budget; estimates funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitors and approves expenditures; and manages budgetary adjustments.
• Prepares and makes presentations for public hearings.
• Prepares reports, comprehensive plans, and recommendations for the Planning Commission, Zoning Commission, City Council, and similar officials on planning matters.
• Interviews, selects, supervises, develops, evaluates, counsels, and if necessary, disciplines personnel according to COSA policies.
• Prepares written reports and presentations.
• Acts for the Assistant Director in their absence.
• Monitors citywide ADA compliance.
• Administers contracts from granting agencies.
• Oversees the production of studies under agency contracts.
• Oversees the development of grant proposals.
• Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
