Job summary

City of Houston is seeking a Plan Review professional to perform comprehensive review, analysis, and interpretation of construction documents for code compliance across multiple codes and standards. The role collaborates with the Plan Analyst Supervisor to approve compliant plans and address issues with various stakeholders.

The position requires strong communication skills, the ability to explain City procedures, and experience in building trades or plan examining.

Qualifications

• Requires two years of skilled, journey level experience in building trades, inspection or plan examining in the area of analysis.
• Substitution: four years of skilled, journey level experience may be substituted for education/experience.
• Substitution: a Bachelor’s degree may substitute for the above requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review construction documents to ensure compliance with code requirements.
• Approve plans that meet code requirements under supervision.
• Identify deficiencies and provide clear written corrections.
• Communicate findings to the public, contractors and professionals to resolve issues.
