Job summary

The University of Michigan is seeking a qualified design and construction reviewer to join Facilities & Operations. Reporting to the Director of Design/University Architect, you will review plans for compliance with design standards, perform field verifications, and participate in meetings and training to stay current.

The role requires a bachelor's in architecture/engineering/construction or equivalent, at least five years of professional experience, knowledge of building systems and codes, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architectural, engineering or construction field or credentials showing successful completion of a certified skilled trade apprenticeship program.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in architectural, engineering, or construction industry.
• Experience conducting detailed plan reviews, site inspections and preparing related reports.
• Knowledge of building systems, construction methods, materials building standards, building codes, life safety, and accessibility.
• Proficiency with standard computer applications and software programs.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Review plans for compliance with university design standards, codes, and constructability.
• Communicate discrepancies to U-M design managers.
• Travel to perform field verifications and inform plan reviews.
• Participate in meetings and trainings to stay current.
