Job summary

The University of Michigan invites applications for a senior architectural leadership role within Facilities & Operations. You will develop programs for capital projects, lead design teams, review consultant proposals, and manage contracts while ensuring high architectural standards and alignment with university goals.

You will advise clients on planning, design, and construction and present graphics and reports for assigned projects. Hybrid work options are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture required; Master’s preferred.
• State license to practice architecture.
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing design for complex projects.
• LEED Green Associate or BD+C credential.
• References supporting creativity and out-of-the-box thinking.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate course of action and make independent decisions on matters of significance within responsibilities.
• Develop architectural program statements and building programs for assigned capital projects.
• Evaluate proposals from consultants and participate in selection for capital projects.
• Prepare and execute contracts for engaging professional consultant firms.
• Direct activities of architects, engineers, interior designers and other professionals; conduct project meetings and track analyses.
• Develop and maintain high quality standards in architecture and manage the design process.
• Advise clients and administrators and faculty on facility planning, building design and construction.
• Prepare and oversee graphics and narrative reports and present them.
