CSG Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Senior Plan Check Engineer in Newman, CA to perform technical review of construction documents for residential, multi-family, and commercial projects.

You will apply California Building Standards Codes, assess life-safety and structural aspects, and ensure conformance with referenced standards. The role requires a PE license in California, relevant ICC certifications, and strong proficiency with Bluebeam, MS Office, and collaboration tools.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years reviewing plans for conformance to the California Building Standards Codes and Referenced Standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Current PE California License is required.
• ICC Building, Electrical, Mechanical, or Plumbing Plans Examiner Certification or CASp Certification, as required for this role.
• Competency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and collaboration tools (Teams/Zoom).

Responsibilities

• Review construction documents for conformance with CA Building Standards Codes and Reference Standards.
• Use engineering judgment to assess design adequacy for life-safety and structural review.
• Read and interpret maps, diagrams, and specs for compliance with codes.
• Coordinate design disciplines and write effective plan check correction notices.
• Prepare and present oral and written reports to stakeholders.
• Develop familiarity with electronic plan check submittals and review workflows.
• Maintain relationships with government agencies, architects, contractors, engineers, and the public.
