Job summary

Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group seeks a senior Piping Engineer to perform advanced calculations, design reviews, and discipline input for piping systems in compliance with ASME and related codes. The role includes leading engineering tasks, budget and schedule oversight, and client communication.

This hybrid position requires a BS/MS in mechanical/structural eng, 5+ years of experience, knowledge of ASME B31.1 and B&PV III, and ability to review P&IDs, equipment specs, and reports.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering with emphasis in solid mechanics, structural analysis, theory of elasticity, metallurgy, and finite element analysis.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes.
• Knowledge of pipe supporting elements and piping products applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and reviews complex calculations.
• Reviews simple system/structural designs and prepares complex system designs.
• Prepares design input for drawing production (P&IDs, Master Diagrams) and reviews inputs.
• Prepares and reviews equipment specifications and material specs.
• Prepares bid evaluations, supports economic evaluations, and vendor data collection.
• Prepares and reviews simple reports/studies.
• Develops project budgets, schedules, and work plans; monitors progress.
• Provides single-discipline input to proposals and communicates with project team and clients.
• Summarizes meeting notes in a timely manner.
