Job summary

Day & Zimmermann is seeking a senior Piping Designer 4 to lead the design and drafting of process piping layouts and isometrics for complex projects in the DZMC Engineering division. You will work across disciplines, enforce codes, and drive schedules, while mentoring CAD staff.

The role requires deep piping knowledge, extensive CAD experience, and a track record of delivering compliant designs on time, with a focus on safety and quality through all project phases.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with technical piping design background.
• AA in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Drafting or closely related field.
• 15–20+ years of piping design and drafting experience.
• Mastery of 2D/3D CAD for detailed piping layouts and fabrication drawings.
• Strong safety orientation and adherence to quality controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage piping design and drafting activities to meet project specs and schedules.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, fabricators, and clients to confirm requirements.
• Apply and enforce compliance with industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Develop and monitor project-specific schedules across multiple sub-projects.
• Prepare and review process piping layouts, isometrics, and supporting docs for constructability.
• Utilize 2D and 3D CAD tools to produce precise piping designs for fabrication and installation.
• Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate design parameters.
• Maintain comprehensive records of revisions and project communications.
• Participate in project reviews and technical workshops to drive improvements.
