Job summary

Day & Zimmermann Company’s MC Engineering team is seeking a Piping Designer 3 to translate project scopes into precise piping designs and layouts using CAD and 3D design tools. You will work on high-impact projects across industries, collaborating with engineers, field personnel, and clients to ensure safety, quality, and schedule alignment.

This role offers opportunities to mentor CAD staff and contribute to design reviews from concept through execution.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Technical AA in engineering, design, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of piping design experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop piping designs and layouts with high accuracy meeting project objectives.
• Use CAD/3D design tools to produce detailed models, drawings, and specs.
• Interpret vendor drawings and engineering documents for integration into plans.
• Perform material take-offs to support budgeting and procurement.
• Oversee CAD personnel to ensure consistency and timely completion of tasks.
• Visit client sites to collect field data and validate design assumptions.
• Contribute to design reviews and verification for milestones and compliance.
• Stay updated on industry standards and project criteria to improve quality.
