Job summary

Akima Infrastructure Services (AIS) seeks an experienced piping design engineer to provide full-time support for facility and production area activities at Y-12 Oak Ridge, TN, and the Pantex Plant Amarillo, TX. The role involves delivering design output documents and collaborating with multiple disciplines in a nuclear regulated environment.

Requires ABET-accredited BS or MS in engineering with 14–15+ years of experience, DOE Q clearance or ability to obtain, and readiness to work on-site,

Qualifications

• ABET accredited BS degree in a relevant engineering discipline with extensive experience.
• MS degree in engineering with substantial relevant professional background.
• DOE Q clearance or ability to obtain clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide piping design engineering support for facility and production areas in Cat 2 and Cat 3 facilities.
• Produce design output documents such as drawings, data sheets, specifications, and calculations.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and plant organizations to deliver timely design outputs.
• Operate in a NRC or DOE regulated environment and understand Conduct of Engineering/Operations/Maintenance.
• Perform field walk-downs and work in production environments, interfacing with clients and staff.
