Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician III to support facility modernization and equipment recapitalization in our San Antonio machine shops.

You will safely disconnect, relocate, install, reconnect, and test machine utility systems, applying your piping and mechanical maintenance expertise to keep production running with minimal downtime. Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, operations, and project teams to complete installations safely, document work, and mentor junior

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting industrial utility systems or an applicable certification/degree in lieu of experience.
• Experience reading mechanical drawings, piping schematics, and installation documentation.
• Knowledge of piping, hydraulics, pneumatics, and high/low pressure utility distribution.
• Ability to mentor junior technicians and coordinate work activities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, lay out, route, fit, and install facility utility systems and production equipment piping.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues, diagnose leaks, and perform system tie-ins with minimal production impact.
• Disconnect, relocate, install, and test machine utilities during moves and upgrades.
• Operate and maintain electrical and control systems supporting manufacturing.
• Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, operations, logistics, quality, and EHS teams.
• Monitor schedules, document work orders, and maintain equipment history records.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities and address safety concerns.
• Provide mentorship and on-the-job training to junior technicians.
• Perform work independently with safety and quality compliance.
