Caterpillar Inc. in San Antonio, TX is hiring for a Maintenance Technician I on 1st shift. You’ll support routine maintenance, troubleshoot basic mechanical systems, and perform preventive maintenance to keep production running smoothly.

This entry-level role is ideal for hands-on learners eager to develop skills with machines, electrical systems, and robotics in a large manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of related hands-on maintenance experience or relevant certification/degree.
• Familiar with basic machines (pulleys, levers, gears), pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, and lubrication theory.
• Experience with electronics such as photo sensors, PLCs, remote I/Os, servo drives, and VFDs.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on assembly equipment per work orders and docs.
• Respond to service requests with limited supervision without interrupting production operations.
• Perform general building maintenance (lamp replacement, doors, plumbing).
• Operate and maintain production equipment (forklifts, conveyors, robotic equipment).
• Maintain lubrication program and organize shop area; follow CPS continuous improvement cards.
