Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Pipe Stress at mid to senior level. You will define piping layouts, perform stress analyses, and lead the design of high‑pressure gas and cryogenic systems for test facilities and spaceflight projects.

Responsibilities include coordinating with suppliers, performing HA ZOP, and mentoring junior engineers. Up to 25% travel may be required, and the role supports complex piping and safety-critical systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years (Level III), 2+ years (Level II) of industry experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in piping system design and analysis.
• Practical knowledge of ASME B31.3 and ASME BPVC codes.
• Ability to earn trust and work in an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

• Define piping system layouts (routing, support locations).
• Perform stress analysis on piping and tubing systems.
• Define and specify pipe support components (anchors, guides, spring hangers).
• Design and analyze structural supports for piping.
• Lead and own design of high-pressure gas and cryogenic fluid systems.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analysis activities for fluid systems (HAZOP).
• Manage suppliers, coordinating cost, schedule, and technical design requirements.
• Provide remote and on-site support during fabrication, installation, and start-up.
• Coordinate with customers to refine project scope and requirements.
• Mentor newer engineers and perform peer reviews as appropriate.
