Job summary

Natera is seeking a Sr Phlebotomist to join our onsite team in Wilmette, IL (with coverage also in Glenview). You will identify the best method for blood collection, prepare specimens for lab testing, and perform screening procedures.

Responsibilities include verifying test requisitions, performing venipunctures and finger sticks, maintaining specimen integrity, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and PHI privacy training.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience.
• BS/BA degree (preferred).
• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
• Phlebotomy Certificate (if required by State).

Responsibilities

• Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log.
• Verifies patient by reading patient identification.
• Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
• Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique and following procedures.
• Tracks collected specimens with dates and times of collection.
• Maintains quality results by recording results and reporting needed changes.
• Resolves unusual test orders by contacting physicians or nurses and referring for clarification.
• Updates job knowledge by educational opportunities and professional reading.
• Supports PHI/HIPAA privacy by following training and security standards.
• Supports hospital reputation by taking ownership of new requests.
