Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Oregon is seeking a Phlebotomist to support the laboratory by collecting and processing specimens and assisting with special procedures as needed. You will mentor new staff and ensure workflow meets service delivery needs in patient care.

Responsibilities include accurate order entry, proper labeling, specimen handling, and providing outstanding customer service to members, clinicians, and nursing staff while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Accredited Phlebotomy Program which includes successful completion of an experience practicum OR Minimum eighteen (18) months of phlebotomy experience within the previous five (5) years in a multi-patient clinical laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Perform order entry, specimen collection and processing according to WI; clarify clinician orders; obtain patient information and collect samples by venipuncture or capillary collection based on age/condition.
• Prioritize workload; coordinate Phlebotomy and Laboratory Service workgroups to meet service needs; act as a resource and facilitate problem resolution.
• Provide instructions to physicians, nursing staff and patients; handle specimens per WI; prepare and store specimens as required and maintain specimen integrity.
• Use LIS to obtain patient demographics, enter clinical information, generate labels, track tests and specimens; print reports.
