Job summary

Talentify in Oregon is seeking a Phlebotomy/Lab Technician to support the laboratory function, ensure proper collection and processing of specimens, and assist with special procedures. You will mentor students and new staff, and respond to needs of members, clinicians, nursing staff and other departments.

You will prioritize workload, coordinate Lab Service activities, and help resolve specimen or order problems while maintaining specimen integrity.

Responsibilities

• Perform order entry, specimen collection and processing according to Work Instructions (WI).
• Clarify clinician orders; obtain pertinent patient information; identify patients; determine specimen requirements and collect samples via venipuncture or capillary methods as appropriate.
• Label specimens accurately and enter patient/specimen data into the laboratory system; ensure tracking and reporting of tests.
• Coordinate workload with Phlebotomy and Laboratory Service/Technical Assistant teams; resolve specimen or order issues and triage to supervisor when needed.
